For over a decade, one event in May has been recognizing excellence in information technology (IT), information and communication technology (ICT) and information and learning technology (ILT) throughout the province. This gala event is none other than the KIRA awards.
Celebrating its 11th year, recipients of a KIRA award have demonstrated in their nomination that they have excelled, innovated or grown in any or all fields of IT, ICT, and ILT.
With seven distinctive categories, the KIRA awards are divided in such a way that the event covers the wide range of technological skill sets that are thriving in our province. These categories are the following:
- Export Product
- Export Service
- Employment Growth
- Most Promising Start-Up
- Technological Advancement / Innovation - Private Sector
- Technological Advancement / Innovation - Public Sector
- Industry Person of the Year
All nominees for a KIRA award have clearly demonstrated what they have done within New Brunswick and abroad to advance themselves in this highly competitive environment. Bottom line is that New Brunswickers should be proud of the pioneering work that is being done in our backyard. We must also remember that the extreme reach of the Internet forces these tech companies to not only deal with local competitors, but international ones as well. And yet they are still making huge strides in their respective fields.
The KIRA awards were created to take time and recognize all the great things these organizations and industry leaders are doing on a global platform from their offices in New Brunswick. Hosted by Enterprise Fredericton, the KIRA awards is our way to shine the spotlight on these genuinely deserving organizations and individuals.
Congratulations to this year's KIRA finalists from all corners of the province. To see the full list, please visit the official site at www.KIRAawards.ca. Also a special thanks to all our sponsors, who truly make this event possible.
This year, the KIRA awards will be held at the Delta Fredericton Hotel on Thursday, May 7. Don't miss your chance to enjoy a five-course meal with the best and brightest in the industry. Contact Wendy Gallant at Enterprise Fredericton (444-4686) for ticket information.
