FREDERICTON - The federal and provincial governments along with Enterprise Fredericton are spending $262,018 to create office space for 10 to 15 businesses looking to commercialize, the organizations announced Friday.

Located in Fredericton's Knowledge Park the Business Acceleration Centre will give startups and companies expanding in the city a bare essentials office space and administrative and technological support as they enter the market place.

The new acceleration facility is for companies that have finished the incubation phase, such as at the National Research Council, which provides office space for companies developing a product or service and the business around it.

"Ideally they're better prepared and better equipped to go out into the marketplace," Enterprise Fredericton chief executive Doug Motty said of companies housed at the new facility.

Federal Minister of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency Keith Ashfield said the facility will contribute to developing a stronger and more competitive economy in the region.

"This investment expands the capacity of the Knowledge Park to attract and support the development of new information companies in the Fredericton area," he said.

T4G Ltd., a software firm with offices in Saint John, Moncton, Halifax, Toronto and Vancouver, is already taking advantage of the new space.
